      Well, my racecars have automated gearboxes, so for road cars, I’ll take a manual. And PDK with launch control is a circus trick. Any circus monkey can do a perfect launch, which a lot of unskilled drivers are pleased with I’m sure.

    My 2021 TRD OR does have a wireless charging pad. It’s awful, and I never use it. However, mine has one. Maybe the Canadian versions don’t have wireless charging.

      I believe the Civic drives better as well. I test drove a Corolla hatchback manual and was not excited at all. Just an a to b car for me.

    After owning a 2020 M340 I opted to get an Audi S4. After someone rear ended that and it was thankfully totaled, I bought an S5. Love it. I did cross-shop the M440 since it’s basically an M340 like the S4 is an S5. The sportback accessibility is the nicest feature of both the M440 and S5.

    Hello Brian. Another great review. The B58 inline turbo 6 is a jewel. One of the best BMW engines. For the value, the M440i grand coupe xdrive or the M304i xdrive is probably the way to go. They both offer practicality, performance and luxury. That is why I am now in the process of buying my M340i xdrive at the end of the lease. Brooklyn Grey and every variation of if by other manufacturers is the hot color. But for a more elegant color combination for the M440i xdrive grand coupe I suggest Tanzanite Blue Metallic with the oyster interior and red brake calipers.

      Thanks! For me, I'd go with the M440i for the hatch (snowboard, bikes, golf clubs, etc), but you know I really dig the M340i. Another super underrated car. The blue would be a great spec. Very elegant.

      @BrianMakse that is the color combination of my M340i xdrive. But partial to the Tanzanite Blue. We also got our X6 m50i in that color. Thanks to your review of the x6 m50i was the final nail in the coffin for us to pull the trigger on the purchase. Love your channel and the work you put into the reviews.

    I would never pick a manual Golf R over a DSG. The Golf R’s performance is severely handicapped with the manual transmission. The OEM clutch is very weak and the shifted feel is sloppy. VW makes mediocre manual transmissions but they make an excellent dual-clutch transmission. The DSG Golf R is much better if you plan to modify. It also makes the best use of the engine’s power band. I’m speaking as someone who has owned several manual transmission cars and now owns a DSG GTI. Blindly telling people to buy the manual Golf R just because it’s a manual, is dishonest journalism to me. I think this is a decent channel but I don’t care for the blind manual fanboyism this guy displays. It’s the primary reason I have not subscribed.

      2018 GTI SE, EQT Stage 2 with DKM stage 2 clutch s SMF setup. No-lift shift and lunch control through COBB AP. 6 speed manual and yes, the stock clutch is weak, but only if you plan to Stage tine. Ride your own ride homie, don’t knock people for their transmission choice. VAG manuals are great and the Mk7 / MK8 GTI / R have a great feeling / positive engaging manual / clutch combo. My MK6 Golf R was a DSG and it was unreliable, with a mind of its own, even after the APR TCU tune. I’ll continue keeping timeless tech around that’s reliable, engaging, fun, light in weight, simple to diagnose, repair and replace. Guess what’s faster than your DSG, every EV. Wanna go fast, buy a model 3 !

      @@dacarguru7983 pushing a pedal down and moving a stick, backwards and forwards does not make you a special snowflake. It’s not that hard. LOL! 😂 VAG manuals suck. If you think they make good manuals, then go drive a manual transmission from Honda, BMW or Porsche. Then get back to me. VAG makes an excellent DSG gearbox which is why it outsells the manual 2 to 1. Btw, unless you are buying a new vehicle with a manual transmission. You aren’t doing anything to “Save the manual”. Manufacturers care about new car sales. Not you picking a manual transmission car, three years later on the used car market. The majority of people who bitch about lack of manual transmission offerings don’t even buy new cars. So either put up or shut up. As for me, I will continue enjoying my DSG. 👍🏾👍🏾

    I would guess a manual would make for a superior enthusiast Miata experience at a baseline. I daily my ND2 1 hour each way, with traffic. I thought the weekend juice might not be worth the weekday squeeze, so I went auto. I’ve had 3 sticks before. It’s fun. But reaching a point where touring comfort slightly outweighs working the gears joy…is also a nice place to be! In my view, if you can have any format of Miata, you’ve already won! 😅

    The Golf and Corolla are some of the last hatches that are still reasonably sized. The Civic and Integra have grown to ridiculous size. The Integra Type S is 15.5 feet long. Thats literally longer than the old Volvo 850 wagon.

    When I was a junior in HS ('83), the clutch in my little '76 4-speed Plymouth (Mitsubishi) Arrow went out for the second time and I could not afford to replace it on my McDonald's checks and so I decided, out of necessity, to see if I could shift w/out it. Figured it out and for the next two years, I drove around in that car w/ no clutch. At stop lights, I'd turn the car off, put it in first, and turn the key. Ignition never did burn out. I still sometimes revert to that shifting out of habit. My technique is similar, although I never 'blip' on downshifting. I just apply light, steady pressure as I add RPM. Over time, this becomes very fast. If you know the car, you'll get w/in a few hundred RPM and then a slight adjustment will drop it in, w/out any change in performance. That technique in reverse is how you accelerate quickly, even w/ heavy torque, But, hey, WOW, my techniques do not allow for shifting into overdrive (not a problem in a '76 Arrow). I just tried your approach on a 6-speed, aaannnddd ... game changer. I could only move around in 1 - 4. Fun. Thanks.

      Last weekend my son and I were car window shopping so. We test drove an Audi A3 same Ea888 2l as in the GLI or GTI … asking was USD 41,500. I told the salesman that it was a bit too much for young driver .. he said go to a cheaper brand bec we are a “ luxury “ brand .. .. “ yes “ I replied I’ll go for the $ 30k cheap cousin the Jettta GLI

    I'm not much of an expert in this topic, but can someone explain to me why the gear ratios are so different between manual and auto versions? Or Rather how are they different, how would a car-unsavy person even tell the difference.

      It's all math and you can check the specs, I'm sure it's easily accessible. It starts with the final drive, which I think is different, then each gear with have a different ratio to suit an automatic with a torque converter, which presents different considerations than a manual.

    I have one, and its amazing, you wanted to know the aero at 177mph , took mine there last week, well 170mph or 275kmh and its fine, not much wind noise. and very solid, Porsche 911 turbo s that I drove to 310kmh is really not much better, both have the wow factor.

      @@BrianMakse it's a hell of alot of car for the money especially used. Drove my friends 911 t and loved it but it's over 300k, I'm not a multi millionaire to scoff that amount......so I waited ......and then drove a x3m and was sold for performance and practicality and room. It's only a <bit> slower than the 911, not a night and day difference at all, faster than the 911 4s for sure which I also drove and way more tech. Heads up display is a Must on any sports car, when I'm going over 200kmh I don't want to look down. See everything important with hud. Great vehicle and my 2020 at 65k is a friggin bargain for what you get and absolutely comparable to cars over 300k new.......

    Awesome Street Muscle Brian! I bought a Chally 392 in Hellraisin' with the ZF 8 speed a few years ago. Smiles for mile man... I got it pretty stripped down, baseline interior, no sunroof, but did get the Dynamics Package and Nav.

    The value just isn't there any more. I paid ~$53K CDN all in for a 2018 Camaro SS 1LE. That included mag ride, active exhaust, Recaro seats, upgraded Brembo Brakes painted red and an electronic locking diff, to name a few of the major features. A 2024 Mustang GT base with the Performance Pack, active exhaust and red brake calipers is almost $68,000 with tax and doesn't even include mag ride or the Recaro seats! Sure, it has more power now, but overall it's actually a significantly less capable car on a road course, not only compared to the Camaro, (2.5 seconds slower per lap from Throttle House's same day testing) but even the previous S550. You need to step up the Dark Horse to match or beat the Camaro, and that starts at $77,000 CDN!!! WTF happened! We're paying way more to get less 🤯

      It's alll inflation, that exact same 2018 spec would be 10k more if it was produced today. The 2024 1SS starts at 57k, with tax its probably 65k. This happened to pretty much every car in the Industry lol, the current WRX costs the same if not more than the STI did back in 2021.
